Keita

Background

Keita embarked on an academic journey focused on Japanese literature, earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Tokyo. His research during this period delved into the realm of 18th-century Kyoto's women's literature. His professional odyssey commenced in the field of investment management at PIMCO, a pivotal point coinciding with the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis. Keita's passion for making a difference led him to chart a new course, transitioning from the private sector finance world to international development. He furthered his education with a second Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University SAIS, a decision that would pave the way for impactful work at prominent institutions such as the World Bank Group in Washington DC and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. In these roles, he harnessed his expertise as a data scientist to contribute meaningfully to global initiatives.

Passion

Keita's passion for exquisite cuisine and a deep appreciation for the joy it brings led him to establish Keita Seafood in Maryland. Recognizing the scarcity of premium-quality fresh seafood in the DMV area, he embarked on a mission to bring this culinary delight to the local population. Keita firmly believes in the transformative power of good food, understanding that it has the capacity to bring happiness to people's lives. His ultimate aspiration is to contribute to making the world a better place through the provision of exceptional seafood. In pursuit of this vision, he is determined to 'democratize' seafood in the United States, making it accessible beyond the confines of expensive restaurants.
